Where can I buy your beef?
We sell in a few places in West Michigan and the Chicago area, on a regular schedule.
Do you ship?
No. We don't ship our beef.
Are your animals 100% grass-fed and grass-finished?
Yes. All of our cattle's diet is freshly grazed pasture and stored grasses (hay or grass silage). We may also give free-choice minerals as needed.
Is the beef frozen?
Yes. All of our beef is flash frozen right after processing. It never sits on a store shelf first and gets frozen later to stretch its shelf life, which is common practice in the industry.
How much freezer space will I need?
As a rule of thumb, one cubic foot of freezer space holds up to 25 pounds of meat.
How are your animals raised?
Our protocols cover what our cattle eat, how they're cared for, and what we never use.
What do you feed your cattle in the winter?
Stored grasses (hay and grass silage). We bale graze, setting round bales out on pasture so the herd eats in the field. We may also give free-choice minerals as needed.
Is your beef free of antibiotics and hormones?
We never give our animals hormones or steroids. We don't use the daily, low-dose (subtherapeutic) medications common in confinement operations. To keep an animal from dying or suffering, we may treat it with antibiotics, and we double the withdrawal period before it is harvested.
Are your animals humanely harvested?
Yes. We always do our best to harvest our animals humanely.
Is your farm certified organic?
No. Our practices already meet organic standards, but certification is expensive, so we don't plan to pursue it.
Are all of the animals raised on your farm?
Yes. We don't sell animals raised on other farms.
Do you sell raw milk?
No. We don't sell any dairy products.
What is rotational grazing?
Moving cattle to a fresh section of pasture on a regular schedule, usually daily, so grazed sections have time to rest and regrow.
What is regenerative farming?
A way of farming that rebuilds the land instead of using it up. It focuses on restoring topsoil, increasing biodiversity, improving the water cycle, and storing carbon in the soil.
